Ghanaghore festival begins in the first week of Chaitr and continues up to the fourth day of the bright half of the month. Ghanaghore is an important local festival and lasts for 18 days. Girls and married women celebrate the festival. Girls dress up in their finest clothes and pray for a spouse of their choice, while married women do the same for the happiness and long life of their husbands.

Chaitra Shukla - 3 Gangaur Utsav

From today, upto 4 days, the Utsav if Gan Gaur is celebrated. During this utsav, the huge procession is started with great pomp and pageantry. This procession is mainly done by Royal Family and Goswami Balaks. The description of this incident can be found in many puranas.

Importance:

When Shree Shankarji Mahadevji, with his third eye, in the anger, turned Kamdeva into ashes, the wife of Kamdeva i.e. Rati collected the ashes and made an idol of it and did the poojan of this idol. After doing this poojan she again made the Kamdeva alive with the grace of Lord. The re-marriage of Rati and Kamdeva was done today. Also, in many puranas, it is believed that today only, the 'Ganas' i.e. the divine representatives of Goddess Uma Parvati appeared from her and began to be known as 'Gan Gauri' which means the 'Ganas' of 'Gauri' i.e. Uma Parvati. Today, the king of Rajasthan celebrates this festival with great pomp and pageantry. But in Pushtimarg, each festival is celebrated with the context of Shree Prabhu and for the happinness of Shree Prabhu and thus bhaktas also celebrates this Utsav with great enthusiasm with Lord shree Krishna.

On this day Radhaji with Lalitaji, Vishakhashaki and other sakhis were going through the forest to do Devi pujana. Suddenly Thakorji appeared.

Here is a pada by Nandadasji.............

Chabili Radhe puja lini ganagor

Well done everybody, this has evoked many angles on this festival. Various events happened during Gana Gaur. (In sanskrut it is pronounanced as "Ganna Gore" ) and in many places and old literature on this subject it is prounounced as 'Ghana Ghore').

There is one correction on Uma Parvatiji's event. Some celestial swaroop known as female Shakti and we know them as Goddess appeared from Uma Parvati, and these event took place on this day of Ganna Gore. This goddesse was female hense was symboled as "Gauri" meaning pretty and fair complexed female form. Parvatiji is wife of Lord Shiv and mother of Ganeshji, she is also known as Ganna,that is, mother oF Ganeshji and the form that appeared from Ganna is gauri, the day was sealed as "Ganna Gaur" day.

Thank you Vasantji. Unfortunatetly I only have that one pada of Ghanaghore.........sorry. But I will post more pada if I do find any.

Sitalji you are right. The reason Thakorji appered abruptly was to prevent the sakhi’s from committing Anyaasray. This shows that Thakorji is always looking after His pyara bhakta.

In lokik young unmarried girls do Devi pujan and preys for a good husband. For same reason vrajkumarika were going to do Devi pujan because they wanted Shree Krishna as their alokik husband. This is the reason on first day of Gana Gaur (or Ganna Gore in sanskrut as Pushtidasji explained) Thakorji wears chundi na vastra.
