Jai Shri krishna,

One time the Gopis asked Shri Krishna

The gopis said: To what brahmana should charity be given?

Krishna said: Durvasa.

(But Sage Durvasa was on the other side of Yamana.)

The gopis said: How will we cross the Yamuna's waters and approach
Him, from whom will we get a boon to cross?

Krishna said: Say the words, --------------

So what were these magic words??

What offerings did they take ?and what boon did Shrimati Radharani receive.?

To seek a solution they went to Lord Krishna and asked for a favor. Lord Krishna gave this solution: "Go to the river and pray to Yamunaji, 'If Lord Krishna is ever celibate, give us way.' The Gopis’ did exactly what Lord Krishna told them and to their astonishment Yamunaji gave them a way!

They crossed the river and reached the other side to serve the food to Durvasa Muni. Durvasa Muni and his disciples finished all the food. Now the Gopis’ needed to cross Yamunaji in order to come back home. The Gopis’ were worried as to how they would cross Yamunaji again. This time they asked Durvasa Muni for a favor.

What did the Gopis ask?

Trushaji, you were correct and here is the answer to balance question also.

Krishna said: Say the words, Krishna the brahmacari, this will
enable you to cross.

By remembering Me a shallow person becomes deep. By remembering Me an
impure person becomes pure. By remembering Me an impious person
becomes pious. By remembering Me one full of material desires becomes
desireless. By remembering Me a fool becomes learned.

After hearing these words, they meditated on Durvasa, and with this
boon crossed the Yamuna. They went to his very sacred asrama and
bowed down offering respects to Durvasa Muni, the best of sages. They
offered with devotion to the brahmana delicious foods made with
milk ,ghee and sweets.

Being very satisfied with them, he took his afternoon bath, honored
their offering of foodstuffs, blessed them ,and gave them permission
to return home.

He specifically blessed Shrimati Radharani that any food She cooks
would taste like nectar. When Mother Yasoda heard of this, she
requested that Srimati Radharani always cook for Krishna, a service
Radharani happily did for all the years that Krishna was in
Vrindavana.

They said: How will we cross the Yamuna?

He said: Meditate on me as a sage that eats only durva grass, and the
Sacred Yamuna will give you a path.

Durvasa Muni is a renounced ascetic. For long periods he ate nothing
but the sacred Durva grass and performed severe austerities. He
attained the position of a brahma-rishi and was known to travel all
over the universe by his yogic powers.

Well Vasantbhai, enjoyed the style you put your thoughts and prasang. By the way, where is your other half? I hope she has not run away with that natkhat kano? Tell her we miss her on tibari.

Vasantbhai thank you for kind words you sent on your email, prior to my visit to India. I was really looking forward to go to Champaran but unfortunately my health was the culprit and I was not worthy, so missed that darshan. I am so sorry.

But, I did parikramma og Shree Girirajji and had lovely alokik time and did Yamna darshan on Vishram ghat, Raman reti, Vallabh and Braham ghatt and was also able to do some Gujarat bethakji. My high light was Bet-Dwarka bethakji.

I am ever so grateful to all vaishnav in Yatra who made it possible to do this yatra. My thanks to Trushnaji, Nirupaji,Vasantben, Bhikhubhai and Anjnaji, All these Bhavik Vaishnavs were my strength, and how can I forget Pushtidasji, who was always at my side when I was feeling down because of my health. May Vallabh bestow the Grace on all these lovely ardent and really fantastic bhagavdiya.

Rasikraiji and kanyalalji Maharaj were the inspiration on whole yatra.

My humble wishes to everyon and dandvaat in the pada kamala of shree Guruji and vallabh parivaar.

thanks vasantji for the nice story. what is durva grass , the ordinary grass . hows it possible to eat grass daily? does god gives us energy ?

Dear Pushtidasji and Inaxibhen thank you very much for the kind words.

Yes, this tibari was little lonely without you two, and we are very happy to see you back. We still have a lot to learn from you ardent vaishnavs and I am thrilled at the way you are giving us the knowledge which would be very very difficult for us to get otherwise, as even to find good pushti pustaks is really hard.

Yes, my other half missed you too and it seems she was lonely and I hope she will join in soon.

She has conveyed her Jai Shri Krishna and have requested you to please accept her little one (daughter Sarika) in your pushti classes on her visit in July/August.

Sorry for hiding from satsang tibari just wanted to see if you all missed me. Laughing

Very happy to note Pushtidasji and Inaxiji are back and also pleased on their vraj yatra trip which was a success.

For Champaran atleast you can have darshans thru the pictures posted on this site and I am glad to hear that atleast you did visit some baithakji's in Gujarat.

Yes, I did miss you both and as we see now the tibari is up and active again.

Will be sending my daughter Sarika to learn some masti from Palnaji, Trushaji, Sitalji, Trushnaji and all of you ardent vaishnavs of London so she can start enjoying on this satsang tibari and learn more about pushtimarg.

Need anything from here let me know.

Kavitaji, the question you have put on Durva Grass is not that simple so I have to do some research and come back on this.

In the meantime will keep open to all vaishnavs also to put some light on this subject or give me some time and you all will hear shortly.

Durva grass :

A variety of short grasses (Cynodon dactylon), coloured light or dark
green, which is commonly found in marshland.

Durva is used for all kinds of worship. It is indispensable during any
sacrifice Whenever water has to be offered in prayer, it is done by
dipping a bunch of durva into the water and sprinkling it on the
deity. This grass is considered a purifier.

Durva is mentioned in the Rig-Veda (see Veda) as being auspicious. The
Vamana Purana states that it can be used as medicine. According to the
Agni Purana, durva cures problems related to bile.

Durva came to be called Goroma. Go is 'Mother Earth' and roma is her
hair. Therefore durva is also considered the hair of Mother Earth.
This is because compared to other grasses, durva is very firmly rooted
in the ground and difficult to pull out.

According to the Vamana Purana, durva was produced from Vasuki's tail.
However, in the Bhavishya Purana, durva is believed to have been
produced from the hair on Vishnu's hands and thighs (other sources say
it was from his back) as he supported the Mandara mountain during the
samudra manthan. As the mountain moved with the churning, it rubbed
against him. Some of his hair fell down, touched by amrita, as durva.

Ok here we go again am I correct Unnatiji and Sitalji ?

Kusha Grass

The sanctity of dharba, also known as kusha (or, kusa)
grass, is as old as the Indian Gods. Puranas tell how
Vishnu assumed the form of the Cosmic Tortoise (Skt.
kurma) whose shell served to support Mandara, the
mountain that served as a dasher in the Churning of
the Sea of Milk. As the mountain rotated, several
hairs were rubbed from the tortoise's back. With
time, they washed ashore and became Kusha.

Later, when the amrita was obtained and distributed
among the gods, some drops fell on the grass which
further sanctified it imbuing it with healing
properties. Therefore, in the tradition hair-cutting
of Vaishnava toddlers, the hair is touched with kusha
before it is cut.

It was used as a ritual seat as far back as the Vedas,
and the Bhagavad Gita (ch. 6) stipulates that, covered
with a skin and a cloth, it is the appropriate seat
for meditation. Therefore, it was one of the first
offerings made to the Buddha.

Kusha, whose name signifies sharp in the sense of
acute, is the root for the Sanskrit word for "expert,"
kosala. That is because the edges of the long leaves
that grow in pairs along the tall stems are very
sharp, so like the sword, it is used as a symbol for
discernment or "discriminating wisdom."

It grows beside brackish (salty) water such as found
at the mouths of rivers and is a kind of tussock
grass; that is, it grows in clumps. When it is dry,
kusa straw is called durva or dharbai. However, some
say these are two different species: Kusha is Poa
cynosuroides and Durva, Agrostis linearis.
